These magnificently created hand thrown mugs are made from Stoneware ceramic first baked at 1,400 degrees Fahrenheit. The first bake freezes the clay molecules to make it extremely hard. They are first glazed with a glassy white glaze, hand painted and then put back in the oven at 2,400 degrees Fahrenheit where the glaze flashes to make the paint permanent. Another coating is applied and they are fired at 2,400 degrees Fahrenheit again. A final glaze is applied and they are fired again. This firing makes the mug food safe .
